Zealong Tea Estate was invited to participate in the Official State Banquet by serving their award winning organic tea to the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and his accompanying delegation of dignitaries during their visit to New Zealand.

The VIP banquet was held at The Langham Hotel’s Great Room and hosted by New Zealand Prime Minister Bill English together with other members of New Zealand’s political and business elite.

“We regard it as a great honour to be invited to serve our award winning tea at this auspicious occasion”, said Zealong General Manager Gigi Crawford. “Our top quality organic tea was extremely well received by all the guests and we hope that the visitors were left with a unique flavour of Pure New Zealand and a sense of ‘home away from home’.

Wellington and Auckland tea lovers, rejoice! We’ve partnered with Mojo Coffee so you can now get your Zealong fix at any of their locations.

Wellington-based Mojo, one of New Zealand’s most experienced and respected independent coffee roasters and cafe operators, is introducing Zealong’s loose leaf teas to its menu to capture a growing market of tea connoisseurs.

With Zealong teas launching in Mojo cafes, tea lovers can enjoy truly home-grown and organic teas. We look forward to sharing the uniquely pure flavours with Mojo customers at its 21 Wellington and 11 Auckland cafes!

Prost! We are excited to announce that our teas are now being sold in Germany, by TeeGschwendner, the world’s largest specialty tea retailer. This follows a landmark export agreement signed last year between Zealong and TeeGschwendner.
Only an elite fraction of the annual world tea export harvest – 0.5 per cent – is considered by the German company’s tea masters, with each tea undergoing rigorous testing before and after purchase for pesticides and heavy metal residues.
We are extremely proud that our teas have been chosen to be part of TeeGschwendner’s offering of premium teas.

Zealong will be showcased during March as TeeGschwendner’s ‘tea of the month’.

unnamed-1To help get in the Christmas spirit and say thanks to our wonderful team for their efforts in 2016 we recently held our annual staff Christmas function.
In conjunction we announced our 2016 Employee of the Year. However, this year we were so impressed that we couldn’t narrow it down to just one person, and instead awarded it to both Germán Tirado and Richard Thurtell.
Big congratulations to both Germán and Richard who have shown great initiative, a positive and motivating attitude, and dedication to their roles throughout the year.

There is a spring in our step at the Zealong Tea Estate following our annual spring harvest – the first in the world.
For 20 days in November, our specially trained staff could be found out in New Zealand’s only commercial tea estate picking the best leaves for harvest.
This is the first of three annual harvests – the next are in January and March – and we are looking forward to the beautiful spring tea that has come from it.

Along with being New Zealand’s only commercial tea estate we can now lay claim to having reached near the rooftop of the world – Mount Everest.
While visiting Nepal a few weeks back, Nomad Tea Merchant set a mission to share New Zealand grown tea with local Nepalese working in the tea industry. Along the journey they took Zealong tea to Mount Everest base camp.
Thanks to Nomad Tea Merchant for helping put Zealong on the map even further.
